Social Enterprise and Purpose

“Please accept my resignation. I don’t care to belong to any club that will have me as a member” Groucho Marx

Our problem was the converse, having joined a club that told me our work was beyond their focus.

It was 2006 when I introduced our social #purpose business to what was then known as the social enterprise coalition, now known as Social Enterprise UK.

I descibed how #peoplecentered economics began with a paper for Bill Clinton and what we’d been doing in #Ukraine
where our primary focus was orphans and street children.

We needed support because we were taking a stand against #corruption and were already seeing #fakenews from detractors claiming that we were a business masquerading as a charity. To us #socialenterprise was a business for #socialpurpose, using its profit for the benefit of the community, we called it #profitforpurpose.

I wrote recently of how founder Terry Hallman died in the trenches, calling for support from #USAID and others.

Today his argument that #capitalism should be reformed to pur people before profit it being re-iterated by the #BritishAcademy and featuring large at #Davos

Is it not time to show #inclusion?
